We call ourselves S.W.A.P, which stands for "Seniors With A Purpose." Our purpose is to encourage, love, and learn one another. The seniors involved in S.W.A.P are learning everyone has a special gift from God and how we can use those gifts.
God's desire for all our lives is to become a beaming light to all those surrounding us. Do you believe older people can still have fun? We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are two secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day.
Maturity means we have more to offer. There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. Growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea to is to grow up by always finding opportunity to change. Seniors don't usually have regrets about what they did, but rather what they did not do. When seniors contribute service back into the kingdom, it's easy to see their ashes traded in for beauty.
My husband, Roger, and I serve the Lord through S.W.A.P ministry. That is what we pray God enables the seniors to do in our community also.
So what do you say, S.W.A.P today?
